Its not often that you are lucky to come across an album, where EVERY track is so good you cant even choose a favourite, and they are all somehow stuck in your head, perpetually replaying. And yet Goldbuuda and Lil Cherry have managed to do just that with their latest release “Space Talk”. I’ve been struggling to define what genre this is, and the truth is, it is its own genre within itself. Fusing and genre-bending K-Hiphop, rap, hyper/dream pop, rock, EDM to create something truly unique and different compared to what everyone else is doing. The album is refreshing to listen to and one you can put on repeat without getting bored.
One of the other things that is really noticeable about the the album is just how far both artists have come musically from the “Chef Talk” album. Goldbuuda especially has just taken the baton and ran with it and has really honed his talent and skills to the next level. His vocal talent and producing skills is really on display and shine, sharp and brilliant. Lil Cherry’s lyrics are such a pleasure to listen to and her vocals are really on display here showing just how amazingly versatile and unique her vocals are. You can really tell that both of them listened and took the constructive critique from their last album and sharpened and refine that amazing talent they have to create something truly awesome. I wish more artists were able to do the same.
There is some major feature artists on this album, but for me personally the star of the show was Mudd The Student and Tyroné Laurent and Jvki Wai. Jvki Wai’s voice works so well with Lil Cherry and adds an extra dimension to the tone of the song. It was SO GOOD to hear Jvki’s voice and rap-style back after her long hiatus, and no fan could be disappointed in “Ggoom”! However for me, the best collab is definitely “Power Rangers” featuring Mudd the student and Tyroné Laurant. The thing that really makes me love this collab is the way that the song really shows off Mudd and Tyroné’s unique style and vocals. Mudd the Student sounds so freaking phenomenal and it really reflects and compliments his style. Tyroné works with both Goldbuuda and Mudd the Student to bring cohesiveness to the whole song. Its well produced and the artists suit the song perfectly.
Its really hard for me to rate this album because I genuinely cant find any faults with it. Would I like it longer? hell yes. But that’s just me being greedy and has nothing to do with the quality of this album. So realistically, since I, a professional Music critique and ex-musician myself, cannot fault the album in any technical form whatsoever, I’m going to award it 10/10.
