I was first introduced to the talent that is Jackie Extreme, back three years ago when a banger of a track was released by Creep-P featuring Jackie Extreme and Chi Chi. It was this song that led me to fall in love with the amazingness that is Jackie Extreme. Which brings me to today when I have the absolute pleasure of reviewing her brand new album – Onyx. Let me tell you, the wait for this album was palpable. Jackie Extreme has a dedicated following of devoted fans, all of whom were like me, excitedly waiting for the release. ( If anyone was watching the Aria Star Insta feed you will know there was a slight glitch as we read the release date wrong – WE WERE TOO EXCITED!) and let me tell you, that wait was totally worth it.
This album is a journey, a journey undertaken by the listener and Jackie as she takes you to her world and shares her experiences. You feel like you have been entranced and taken to an alternative realm outside of the realities of the world around us.
Onto the technical aspects of this album, can I just say that this has been written, mixed and produced so well, like SO.WELL. You can really tell the difference and the improvements in talent and skills compared to the first Jackie Extreme album. This is crisp, clear and incredible. Perfectly mixed and each song flows on flawlessly to the next. The sassy sarcastic and dark lyrics gives the listener some banger lines. But mostly it depicts a self aware, amazing flawless artist who has been through the industry and knows how this shit has to work, and that’s why we love Jackie so much.
This is an album which you listen on repeat, it’s in the background, its at the club, it’s so easy to listen and vibe too. I will be the first to admit to listening to this album nearly daily since its release. Check out the full album below!
