Ritual, Rage, and Noise: VMO Unleashes ‘Channeling Lurking Demons’

Aria van Weye 02/04/2025

🩸 Japanese industrial metal collective VMO (Violent Magic Orchestra) unleashes pure chaos with their new single ‘Channeling Lurking Demons,’ a hellish descent into distorted frequencies, sonic warfare, and ritualistic rage. Known for fusing black metal, noise, techno, and industrial soundscapes into unrelenting audio experiences, VMO returns with one of their most haunting and brutal offerings to date.

‘Channeling Lurking Demons’ doesn’t ease you in—it drags you by the throat. From the opening blast of harsh electronics and pounding drums, the track smothers you in darkness, building a wall of noise that feels alive and seething. Vocals scream from the abyss, buried beneath layers of distortion, like desperate voices trying to claw their way out of the void.

The track is less a song and more an exorcism—a violent purge of suppressed emotion, spiritual torment, and industrial rage. The pacing lurches between frenetic and hypnotic, keeping listeners off balance while summoning a sense of impending doom. Every moment feels like a confrontation with something ancient, angry, and unstoppable.

Lyrically and sonically, ‘Channeling Lurking Demons’ is a metaphor for survival against invisible terrors. Whether personal, societal, or spiritual, the demons being channeled are the ones that feed off silence, and VMO’s answer is pure volume and violence. Their sound is resistance incarnate—a raw scream against repression and conformity.

The music video is a visceral nightmare. Featuring glitchy visuals, inverted religious imagery, violent strobes, and hellish red-lit environments, it enhances the song’s unrelenting energy. The aesthetic is demonic cyberpunk ritual, performed at the edge of the world. For fans of extreme music and unfiltered catharsis, this is VMO at their most punishing and profound.
